Spring 2022 scholarship winners announced

Congratulations to our three inaugural scholarship winners!

Annette (North Carolina)

TJ (North Carolina)

Zofia (Florida)

Annette, TJ, and Zofia lost their father before their 18th birthday, and their bereavement process is still ongoing.

In Annette’s creative piece, she urged other young people to appreciate their parents while they can because they may not be able to spend those precious moments with them one day.

Zofia is planning to major in international relations and aspires to be like her dad: “Caring, thoughtful, hours early to everything, and giving more of yourself than you have.”

And TJ shared that it has been three years since losing his dad, and he hasn’t been able to catch his breath. “Life just walked up to me and gave me a devastating sucker punch. The loss of my dad knocked me completely off my feet.”

All three students receive a $1,250 scholarship, a Stella plant, and will be onboarded to our pen-friend program in 2022.

Many thanks to each donor, and Charlotte is Creative for their $1,000 Bear Hug grant. You made our inaugural scholarship year a reality!
